My photographic training really began at age 8 when I received (as a beloved Christmas gift) my first SLR. I noticed that immediately I was attracted to landscapes: out of any photographic subject matter I could choose — even from the very beginning — I knew instinctively that I was going to make landscape photography the foundation of my life’s creative work.
I am the very first grant recipient in the area of photographic fine art from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation (New York City).
Prior to becoming a professional landscape photographer, I received a B.A. in political science from the University of Maryland (graduating magna cum laude) and a Masters of Arts from Virginia Tech, also in political science.
